Naomi Watts joins J. EDGAR
The rich just keep getting richer.
According to Deadline, Naomi Watts has just signed on to join the upcoming Clint Eastwood film, J. EDGAR, in the role of Helen Gandy, a file clerk who ultimately became Hoover’s secretary. The role was originally cast with Charlize Theron, but ultimately was vacated by the thespian.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, along with Armie Hammer, Josh Lucas, Ed Westwick, Damon Herriman, Ken Howard, and Judi Dench, all making this one of the most hotly anticipated films of 2011, at least in the eyes of this writer. J. EDGAR should be shooting relatively soon, as a fall release date is likely, and with a cast like this, you can expect more than a bit of news coming out of this production. Watts is a fantastic actress, and with a team like Hammer, Watts, Dench, and DiCaprio, you truly cannot go wrong here. Sure, Eastwood may not have the momentum one would expect, but even he can’t mess this up.
