Natalie Portman writing a sex comedy, BYO

Everybody knows Natalie Portman has a sense of humor. Just watch her SNL videos or GARDEN STATE for proof. Or CLOSER, for that matter, because that movie's just full of hilarity.

The LA Timesreports that Portman is putting her comedic side to use once again, this time in the form of a script co-written with college friend Laura Moses. The project is called BYO (which means Bring Your Own), and has been described by some as a female-oriented SUPERBAD. The plot follows two twentysomething women looking for love who decide to throw a party "to which each female attendee brings an eligible bachelor." Portman is set to star as one of the leads, and executives report Anne Hathaway is potentially interested in the other primary role.

It'll be interesting to see whether the project gets backed by a major studio or if Portman and Moses will finance it independently. While Portman has frequently demonstrated a skill for comedy in short sketches and interviews, it would be great to see what she can do with a feature-length film. What do you think? Are you excited about this news, or do you think she should stick to drama?
