The teaser poster for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES debuts

People may be going to THE AVENGERS this weekend for the film, but I have a feeling they’ll be all the more excited for what they’ll be seeing before hand.  And if you can’t wait, well, the magic has finally hit the web.

That’s right, the third trailer for the upcoming final chapter in Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, has hit the web in advance of its theatrical debut this weekend in front of prints of the aforementioned Marvel blockbuster, and its one hell of a tease.

Personally, from the outset, I’ve been a little skeptical about what to expect from this third film, as I’ve found myself left insanely cold by Nolan’s great, but overlong and oddly paced pair of Batman films. However, while I do feel that this trailer tells a lot more than it simply shows, I can’t wait to see what the hell Nolan has in store here. I fully believe that we won’t be privy to much narrative shock (Bane is introduced, defeats Batman, Batman rehabs, returns, defeats Bane), but frankly, who the hell knows what Nolan has in store for us. Who is Gordon-Levitt’s character? Nightwing? Could he be Terry McGinnis? Could this be a lead in to some sort of JGL-led Batman spin-off? Is that Cotillard as Talia kissing Batman near the end? Is that Bane without his mask about a minute and twenty seconds in? Is Banes less-wonky voice all that much better? What’s the meaning of life?

What do you think?
