New full-length trailer for SKYLINE sucks (a lot of people into alien ships)
Other than a teaser, we haven't gotten a good look at SKYLINE, the upcoming sci-fi actioner from The Strause Brothers (AVPR: ALIEN VS PREDATOR - REQUIEM) which follows a group of Los Angelenos as they wake up in a high-rise apartment only to find their fair city to be under attack by extra terrestrials. That is, up until now, as the first full-length trailer for the film has just invaded the web.
My initial thoughts? It looks to be a little more action than sci-fi and isn't quite as CLOVERFIELD-esque as initially rumored. Although I must say the film's sci-fi aspects seem a little too SyFy for the big screen. The effects do look good but would expect anything less from two brothers largely known for their visual effects work on films like IRON MAN 2, AVATAR, 300, amongst other blockbuster titles? Coincidentally enough, their resume also includes effects work on BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, another upcoming film about aliens invading L.A. and fighting it out in the streets of the city. So, we may have a case of ARMAGEDDON vs. DEEP IMPACT on our hands with The Strauses' SKYLINE and Jonathan Liebesman's BATTLE: LOS ANGELES. Which one seems to have the upper hand? Guess we'll have to wait for a BATTLE: LOS ANGELES trailer to fairly make that assumption.
Until then, check out the feature-length trailer for SKYLINE to form your own opinion!
Is it just me or does that trailer use the ole' "starring at an object in slow motion as you get closer to it only to have an alien ship destroy it" gag one too many times?
