New look at Harmony Korine’s upcoming short, THE FOURTH DIMENSION

There are great filmmakers, and then there are directors like Harmony Korine.

Be it his absurdly bewildering TRASH HUMPERS or his equally cartoonish short UMSHINI WAM, there is truly no filmmaker quite like Korine.  And now, the auteur is back, with yet another short, entitled THE FOURTH DIMENSION.

Debuting at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, the short stars Val Kilmer, and follows a speaker who decides to deliver a sermon at a roller rink.  The Playlist has a series of photos for the film, and it looks as odd as one would expect.

Starring a pudgy Kilmer, the film should follow in the recent footsteps left by Korine, a filmmaker seemingly hell bent on philosophizing without anything nearly resembling a cogent narrative.  Kilmer is an interesting choice for a lead here, and could really do wonders with a film like this.  Not quite the potential career reboot Kilmer would hope for, but working with Korine may offer up just the bit of creativity that his career could use.

What do you think?
