With the film now deep into production, we are slowly getting our first real look at what has become one of the most talked-about projects in quite some time.

After getting our first, really high quality look at star Shia LaBeouf in all of his old-timey garb, we now have even more photos from the upcoming John Hillcoat-directed adaptation of the Matt Bondurant novel The Wettest County In The World.

Producer Cassian Elwes tweeted a few photos from the film’s set, as well as what looks to be a snapshot of dailies from the long-gestating and hotly anticipated project. The film features Jason Clarke, Tom Hardy, and LaBeouf as a trio of brothers who run a bootlegging ring, until the law comes down hard, wanting a piece of the action. Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain co-star.

Also, while it will likely not show at the prestigious film festival, Bondurant recently tweeted (via ThePlaylist), that “I decided that when the #Wettestcounty movie goes to Cannes this May I’m only going if I get to fly in a private jumbo jet w/ Kanye West.” Now, what this likely means is that the film will hit the marketplace on the Croisette, with footage in hand, to sell to possible buyers.

Personally, this is easily one of the most anticipated projects coming down the pipeline, not only for its cast, but for its filmmaker. Hillcoat is a fantastic director, and one that should do wonders with this type of project. Toss in a top notch cast, and it’s the makings of a great film.
