New photo from THOR looks silly; film to look sillier in conversion 3D

Well, there goes much interest in that film.

Going into Marvel’s adaptation of THOR, I couldn’t help but be intrigued. The idea of Kenneth Branagh directing the closest thing Marvel has to a real epic style character, with a cast that included Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, had me more than interested in seeing what Marvel had up their sleeves.

Then we started seeing things from the film, and now we may have the final two nails in the coffin that is holding my anticipation for this project.

Thanks to the L.A. Times, we now know that Marvel will be converting both THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA to 3D for their release. “We came to feel that in our case, 3D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience,” said Branagh to the paper. This statement is where I have a problem.

Personally, my problem with 3D is that it adds nothing to the film. Absolutely nothing. Here, if 3D could have added story and character to the film, why would they not have just shot for it? Makes far more sense than going the AIRBENDER route and making the film ultimately off-putting to people like me. Yes, they will make more money, but personally, this just leaves a really sour taste in my mouth.

Oh, and now we now have our official first look at Anthony Hopkins as Odin up top, and it looks silly. Silly as all hell. Sure, he looks “bad ass” with the eye patch and all, but honestly, this just goes to show that this film is going to be epic in scope, but silly in every other way possible. Anticipation, it was nice to know you.

I have to almost agree with you here. I feel, with this photo, the movie may be heading into an epic disaster. From seeing this image they are making Odin look stupid, IMO, and Loki isn't looking like the Loki I have read in the comics. I hope this movie doesn't bomb. I'll have to see how Loki, and Thor's helmets look before I start to judge this film I just hope it isn't going into the mud.
