The Weinstein Company can’t make up their damn minds, particularly when it comes to one film, APOLLO 18.

Coming Soon is reporting that WB has moved the release date of their upcoming film, FINAL DESTINATION 5, from August 26 to August 12, leading the Weinsteins to move APOLLO 18 once again, this time to fill the now-open slot.

Now, with regards to FINAL DESTINATION 5, the film is now set to face quite a bit of competition, in the form of 30 MINUTES OR LESS, DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, and THE HELP. That said, with three different 3D films set to hit theaters on August 19 (FRIGHT NIGHT, CONAN THE BARBARIAN and SPY KIDS 4), the move is definitely a smart one.

But then there is APOLLO 18. Poor little APOLLO 18. The film was originally set to open this Friday past, but then moved to January 6 of next year, and now, it’s been pulled back once again. Personally, while I am not totally sold on the film, I did see the trailer and I think a found footage horror film set on the moon could be interesting. That said this constant moving does absolutely nothing to aid in my anticipation.

That said, this could also lead to the studio moving their upcoming comedy OUR IDIOT BROTHER on that date, so expect much more on this as it comes.

Wow, I thought APOLLO 18 had already come and gone, but I guess this explains why I hadn’t heard anything. The trailer definitely peaked my interest, but maybe I’ll just wait til DVD.
