Coming out of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, most of the headlines were focused squarely on the latest from director Terrence Malick, TREE OF LIFE. However, while it may not be a better film, one of the more interesting films to hit the Croisette this year was Pedro Almodovar’s THE SKIN I LIVE IN.

Based on the Thierry Jonquet novel Mygale, the film stars Antonio Banderas as a man out for revenge after his daughter is brutally raped, and is best described as a weirdly haunting and insanely thrilling blend of horror and Spanish melodrama.

A new teaser has hit (via Twitch), and while it’s not a hugely telling piece of promotional material, this is definitely one hell of a great way to feed one’s appetite. I had a chance to see the film at Cannes this year, and can say that it’s both unlike anything Almodovar has done during his career, as well as featuring all of his thematic and visual staples. The performances given in this film are absolutely fantastic, and as with any Almodovar film, his hands are all over this thing.

Check out my review of the film here, and check out the teaser trailer below.
