New trailer for Dustin Lance Black’s VIRGINIA arrives

It’s about time this project starts getting in front of the public.

Almost two years after the film’s debut at TIFF in 2010, we, the general public, are still anxiously waiting to get our first look at Dustin Lance Black’s upcoming directorial outing, VIRGINIA, even despite the horribly dreadful reviews the feature got after its debut up north. However, we now at least have a trailer to wet our appetite.

The film stars Jennifer Connelly, and follows a woman who after being jilted by her already married main squeeze, decides to fake a pregnancy to exact revenge.  The trailer itself hints at a film that aesthetically and tonally is all over the place, but one could do worse than to stare into those life shattering eyes of Jennifer Connelly.

Personally, I think the film itself looks disastrously bad, even despite being shot in my hometown. Connelly looks like she’s having a ball, but the film itself looks like it has absolutely no idea what type of film it wants to be.  Black has said that this is a newly minted version of the film, different than the TIFF cut, so hopefully some of those issues are fixed, but I'm not holding my breath.

What do you think?
