New trailer for THE EXPENDABLES hits you in the face for :60 seconds
I feel like I just had a steroid induced seizure after watching this thing.
Thanks to Lionsgate, we now have yet another trailer for the upcoming action film THE EXPENDABLES, and I must say, while I’m not at all a fan of big, explosion heavy action films, I just have to respect the audacity of just how machismo heavy this thing really looks to be.
Starring a cast of action legends like Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, and all under the watchful eye of Sylvester Stallone, the latest minute long trailer looks both obnoxiously cartoonish, and just plain bad ass. As much as I don’t want to dig a film so completely brainless, somewhere deep inside me I am secretly geeking out like a frat boy prior to a weekend long party.
To me, the best part about what we’ve seen here, is that Stallone seems to have a masterful eye for the geography of action and action filmmaking. In a world where action means putting the camera in, literally, the middle of a fight scene, it’s refreshing to see a filmmaker go back to what makes action fun, being able to actually see the crazy stunts and insane explosions. It’s not my cup of tea, but for a really lackluster summer, this may be the spark of energy that we all have been looking for.
