A new trailer for THE THREE MUSKETEERS arrives

UPDATE: The film has now been moved to an October 21 release date, according to Deadline.

It might just be me, but what’s been advertised for Paul W.S. Anderson’s THE THREE MUSKETEERS, shot wholly in 3D, surely doesn’t remind me of the Alexandre Dumas novel from which it’s supposedly derived.

The new trailer, which can be seen after the jump, lifts quite a few dialogue bits from the one we got back in March. Other than that, we see a few new action sequences that are definitely fun to watch but also seem quite out of place for a film set in this particular time period and ultimately rather silly. The fact that it looks like a completely commercial film, paird with the almost-laughable appearances of some of the performances, doesn’t bode too well for the film either.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS hits theaters on October 14, 2011.
