Nicholas Hoult offered lead role in JACK THE GIANT KILLER
It looks like Bryan Singer finally has his GIANT KILLER, as Deadline is reporting that the lead role has been offered to Nicholas Hoult, with the young star currently negotiating the deal. The young actor will play Jack, "a farmer who leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom to rescue a kidnapped princess."
The outlet reports that the deal is "expected to close quickly, after [Hoult] emerg[ed] as the lead following a long testing process." Aaron Johnson's name had also been attached to the project for a long time, but Hoult has come out as Singer's choice.
Hoult made a splash in 2009's A SINGLE MAN, after first capturing attention as a little charmer in ABOUT A BOY. He continues his varied resume with his next roles - as Beast in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (coming out in June) and in the yet-to-film FURY ROAD (the MAD MAX prequel).
Singer's script comes from Christopher McQuarrie, Mark Bomback, and Darren Lemke, and the film is touted as "a scary revisionist take on the Jack and the Beanstalk mythology." Casting for the film has recently heated up, with the recent addition of both Bill Nighy and Stanley Tucci.
