UPDATE: Jackson also revealed that he will be getting a sidekick in the upcoming AVENGERS film, and THR has reported that Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Cobie Smulders, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are set to test for that very role.

Samuel L. Jackson just announced on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that the character of Nick Fury will indeed appear in the upcoming THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. It still stands that the largest part Fury will play in the Marvel universe has already come to pass, with Jackson's fairly sizable role in IRON MAN 2.

Check out what Jackson said after the break.

"In the next month or so, I have to do one day on Thor, and I gotta do another day on CAPTAIN AMERICA and in April we start THE AVENGERS — the big deal with everybody. THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA are pretty much done, but I haven’t done my part in them yet. I’m just connective tissue for them to join The Avengers."

I suppose the surprise end credits cameo is so expected now in summer blockbusters that it makes no difference anymore whether the cat's out of the bag or not. Regardless, with Jackson now appearing in the STAR WARS prequels, PULP FICTION, and every Marvel movie save THE INCREDIBLE HULK, it's safe to say that most fanboys would rather have Jackson's career instead of the previous heir to the geek throne, Christian Bale, who has already appeared as Batman and John Connor in the TERMINATOR franchise.
