I think it kind of goes without saying that the early part of any given year is always made better by a raunchy, gritty, and cartoonishly in your face, 3D B-movie. No? Just me?

Well, if you are like me, then you’ll definitely get a kick out of the cavalcade of new clips that we have for you from the upcoming film, DRIVE ANGRY 3D, as they ooze all of that, and so much more.

Directed by MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D helmer Patrick Lussier, the film follows a “hardened felon who has broken out of hell intent on finding the vicious cult who brutally murdered his daughter and kidnapped her baby.” Toss in a scenery chewing Nicolas Cage, a stunning Amber Heard, and the always magnetic William Fichtner, and you have a film that will hopefully make this early part of the year far more intriguing.

The four clips here, including one of the most amazing and probably telling red band clips I’ve seen in a really long time, make the film look like the over the top exploitation/B-movie that it truly should be, and in a similar way to something like PIRANHA 3D, shows that while 3D may be great for world building, there is something to be said for the format in its ability to make watching that world burn to the ground all the more engaging. Count me in. So damn in.
