Nicole Kidman to quit acting?

To quit or not to quit? That is the question that has been on the mind of Nicole Kidman recently. As she said in a recent interview,

"I am in a place in my life where... I've had some great opportunities and I may just choose to have some more children. I've no idea what is in my future but I am very at peace with where I want to be. There are many things I want to do besides act."

The decade started out strong for the actress. On the heels of her great performance in EYES WIDE SHUT, she also starred in MOULIN ROUGE, THE HOURS (which earned her an oscar), THE OTHERS, COLD MOUNTAIN, and DOGVILLE (not a critical success, but certainly a testament to her range as an actress). More recently, though, her movies have not been well received. Just look at THE GOLDEN COMPASS, BEWITCHED and THE INVASION as examples.

So should she quit acting? No! My friends and I would joke around back in the day about actors and actresses who should have to give up their Oscars and we would refer to Kidman as someone who "has earned her Oscar." I'd love for her to keep making movies, but I understand that she has a newborn baby, a somewhat new husband and that at this point in her career she can do whatever she wants. IMDB lists her as having three movies coming out in 2009, so whether she quits or not, we won't be seeing the last of her anytime soon.
