Nolan gives insight into next Batman film
WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! Do not read this if you have not seen THE DARK KNIGHT.
While last night's live DARK KNIGHT commentary was not all that and a cave of bats, director Christopher Nolan did give fans some insight on the possible future of a third Batman film. Here are some of the highlights:
When asked if he was feeling any pressure from the studio to do a third film, Nolan responded by saying that the studio was being "very understanding of my process." He went on to say that he and co-writer David Goyer were currently exploring the possibilities of a third film and do indeed have "a story we are excited to tell."
When asked about the possibility of Two-Face returning, Nolan said "His story is told. He is very much dead at the end of the film."
When asked if he would ever consider creating a new villain for the third film, Nolan said that creating Batman villains for a film does not "seem as appropriate" as it does for a comic book.
When asked if there were any other projects he was currently working on, Nolan said that he had "several projects," including an original script that he has been writing and developing over several years time.
So there you go folks. They definitely have another Batman story they are excited to tell. Harvey-Two face isn't coming back. The rumored villain Half & Half, half-brother to Two-Face, will never show either face in Nolan's Batman. And we may get a sure-to-be-fantastic original film as a follow up to THE DARK KNIGHT, just as we did with THE PRESTIGE after BATMAN BEGINS.
Stay tuned for more in depth coverage on last night's event. To be continued...
Comment back with your favorite made up Batman villain. I wish this one were made up but, sadly enough, he is very much real.
