Family really is the ultimate pyramid scheme, isn't it? I guess that's one of the ideas being sold by the film THE JONESES. What I don't understand from watching the trailer is how one family can really have that much marketing impact. It's not like these Joneses are the Kardashians or anything. But when you are the cool kids, everyone wants what you have. Even when your life isn't exactly how it is perceived to be.

THE JONESES sees David Duchovny, Demi Moore, Amber Heard, and Ben Hollingsworth as the picture perfect family. They move to a well-to-do McMansion-filled gated community and everyone is trying to keep up with the family that seemingly has everything. This film seems to question our consumer culture and celebrity worship, but it looks like it will barely scratch the surface before turning into a cat and mouse romantic comedy with Duchovny chasing Moore. It does make you wonder how much of this type of stuff is going on in the real world. I'm guessing a lot, maybe not in this capacity, but definitely when you think of tabloid culture and reality television.
