Although SHREK FOREVER AFTER is still showing at many theaters, DreamWorks is already gearing up for the release of PUSS IN BOOTS that is set to be premiere next November. The website also surprisingly introduces a new character and has some plot information. Although it seems really early for this site, it is interesting to see the direction the film will take.

Here is the short synopsis on the website:

"Early adventures as he teams with mastermind Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and the street-savvy Kitty (Salma Hayek) to steal the famed Goose that lays the Golden Eggs."

Like many people, the fact that Zach Galifianakis is in this, gets me really excited. I've been a fan of his for years, since I first saw THE COMEDIANS OF COMEDY. I have a feeling that Humpty Dumpty was perfect casting for him, and can't wait to see that.

The other thing to note on the site is the introduction to Kitty, who will be voiced by Salma Hayek. I felt it was important to make sure Kitty was in the picture above, so you could have a good look at her. Antonio Banderas and Salma have great chemistry, so that actually gets me pretty stoked for this movie.

After the release of SHREK: THE FINAL CHAPTER, are you guys excited about PUSS IN BOOTS?

Sounds like a decent cast but maybe it's time to let the franchise rest so the animators can focus their efforts on more new ideas like How to Train Your Dragon instead of endless sequels or spin-offs of a 2001 phenomenon. Sure Pixar made 3 Toy Story movies (though they took their time – all 4 Shrek films were released in the decade between Toy Story 2 & Toy Story 3) but those films felt like natural continuations of the characters' lives while the Shrek films seem to have devolved into a mildly amusing string of cheesy puns and anachronistic non sequiturs.

I'm right there with you. I'd much rather see something new than this film. But, it is coming and it could be coming along a lot worse.

I'm still waiting to see Toy Story 3, but from the sounds of it, the time lapse is what they needed to make the right movie. From the sounds of it, mission accomplished.
