Oliver Stone to helm pot thriller
According to Deadline Hollywood (via The Playlist), Oliver Stone has lined up yet another project to direct.
The site is reporting that he will be helming the upcoming drug cartel thriller, SAVAGES, based on a forthcoming book by Don Winslow, which follows “two pals from Laguna Beach who share the same girlfriend and a thriving business growing and distributing the best quality pot on the planet. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel, the girl is kidnapped and the ransom is every cent they’ve made for the last five years. They agree to pay, but hatch an alternate plan to get her back, get revenge, and then get lost.”
Stone has put some money already into this project, all in the hopes of securing financing from studios, with the plan of making this his WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS follow-up.
This project sounds quite interesting, and while Stone has been a polarizing filmmaker in the past, his film W truly proved that he still has a lot in his tank; and MONEY NEVER SLEEPS looks like a real blast and a good film to boot. I’m a fan of his, so the idea of him doing a pot thriller makes this one film that I can’t wait to check out.
