ON THE ROAD and COSMOPOLIS heading to Cannes?
While 2011 saw the Croisette as on fire as it has ever been, 2012 may be just as great a year for the always interesting Cannes Film Festival.
It’s been all MOONRISE KINGDOM at this point, with that film being announced as the opening night film for the festival, but now that Wes Anderson film has some company. THR is reporting that both ON THE ROAD and COSMOPOLIS will be bowing at this year’s festival, with films like COGAN’S TRADE, RUST & BONES and LAWLESS (amongst a few others mentioned in the piece) all being rumored as the official announcement nears.
New films from Alan Resnais (VOUS N’AVEZ ENCORE RIEN VU), Leos Carax (HOLLY MOTORS) and Francois Ozon (DANS LA MAISON) are all thought to be making their bow in their native France at the festival, and these are just a few of the massively intriguing slate that should be hitting the Croisette in May. Personally, I think films like ON THE ROAD and the Resnais picture are easily the most interesting pieces here, both of which are from two of the film world’s most brilliant auteurs.
What film are you looking forward to most here?
