UPDATE: Deadline is reporting that the film is being released by WB and is titled HARKER.

With his latest film, UNKNOWN, set to hit theaters soon, director Jaume Collet-Serra, best known for his shockingly killer horror/thriller, ORPHAN, has just nabbed himself a brand new project.

Badass Digest has the scoop that Collet-Serra will helm a film based on a spec script penned by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevey, entitled BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA PROJECT. At this point, details aren’t known, other than it will be backed by Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production shingle.

Now, while I’m not familiar with the work of Shipman and McGreevy (they have two films on the way, a remake of CAPTAIN BLOOD and the Sylvain White film, PENDRAGON), I do know quite a bit about one Collet-Serra. ORPHAN is a wonderfully off-the-wall horror/thriller, that while being wholly campy, is actually a really well-made addition to that overstuffed genre. He’s a fine craftsman, and should do really well with this type of project.
