Hit the break for all the deets!

Attention, movie lovers! Gordon and the Whale.com is proud to announce its 3rd annual Outstanding Spectacular Cinematic Awards Reception watching party (or O.S.C.A.R. for short) on Sunday, February 27th, 2011!

This year, we'll be at the legendary and historic Texas Theatre because, if you're going to watch the big night on the big screen, why not watch it in the style of old Hollywood? In true cinematic stylings, the theater will be dressed to the nine's courtesy of DIRT Floral Design Studio and Balloons Everyday, including a giant version of the little gold man statue made entirely out of balloons!

Guests will immediately be given the red carpet treatment as they arrive and are greeted by hosts from Paul Mitchell: The School Dallas, who will offer complementary hairstyles and make-up. Once you're glitzed and glammed for the party, our on-hand "poparazzi" from Poparazzi For Hire will capture your new celebrity look in our Tinseltown-themed photo booth where you'll have the opportunity to give your own "post-Oscar win" pose! Dress to impress to dress to not stress, it's up to you!

Then it's into the theater to enjoy the pre-show beginning at 5:30 PM with the big show starting at 7:00 PM, with Gordon and the Whale as your very own Academy Awards' MCs. But that's not all, folks! It wouldn't be a night with the stars without some of our very own local celebrities, which include award winning local filmmakers, actors, and representatives from DFW's premier film festivals.

And of course it wouldn't be an awards ceremony without some prizes of our own given away throughout the night, which include:

-5 one year subscriptions to Blockbuster ON DEMAND
-2 badges to the 2011 Dallas International Film Festival
-1 Two Star membership to the 2011 Lone Star International Film Festival
-1 five-day premier pass to the 2011 Lone Star International Film Festival
-2 badges to the 2011 Texas Frightmare Weekend
-2 badges to the 2011 Dallas Video Fest
-2 badges the 2011 Dallas International Guitar Festival
-Gift cards to Oak Cliff's own Eno's Tavern, Oddfellows Resturaunt, and The Soda Gallery
-Cinematic swag brought to you by many of 2010's top films, including some of the night's nominees
-Last, but certainly not least, the big prize pack worth hundreds of dollars for the guest that closest predicts the night's winners!

We guarantee no one will leave empty handed! The best part? The party is absolutely free to attend! It's a night you won't want to miss, so RSVP by clicking the Eventbrite logo below to let us know you're coming to watch the little gold man get handed out on the silver screen with your friendly neighborhood movie website!

Update: We are proud to announce the return of last year's sponsor, i Fratelli Pizza! Guests will be treated to hot and delicious gourmet pizza courtesy of Dallas' best pizza delivery joint (as ranked by D Magazine). But better get there early, as the food is limited and is on a first come, first serve basis!

Update: We are proud to announce that Oak Cliff's own Eno's Tavern, Oddfellows Resturaunt, DIRT Floral Design Studio, and The Soda Gallery have come aboard as sponsors for the party!

Update: We are proud to announce that Dude, Sweet Chocolate will be providing sweets and treats for the party!
