If you like looking into the future, then today is your day. Following a series of release dates being set for films like THE SKIN I LIVE IN, CARNAGE, and THE HOST, yet another huge project has found a home on the calendar.

THR is reporting that Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film, PACIFIC RIM, is set to bow come July 12, 2013. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, and Idris Elba, and is described as a “monsters vs mechas action film,” and will be released thanks to WB and Legendary Pictures.

Penned by Travis Beacham, the film is one of the first films which Legendary Pictures, a WB subsidiary, will be involved with from start to finish, so this should prove to be one of their most intriguing releases to date. With a really solid cast and one of the film world’s most visionary names behind the lens, this is easily one of the most anticipated projects around. Toss in a perfect summer release date, and big things appear to be brewing over at WB.
