VERY little is known about this movie. I can’t even find it on IMDB. All I know is, WW II movie about Nazi zombies, it’s directed by Richard Raaphost, and has been in the works since 2004 (troubles with financing). The visuals in this trailer are incredible. Enjoy!

Zombie Nazis fighting in World War II? Sounds like a Troma film to me. Formally known as War of the Dead, the now Stone’s War is set in Finland circa 1940 and follows Captain Stone and an elite platoon of American and Finish soldiers into the Artic forests to fight, well yep, Nazi Soldiers. The plot sounds a lot cooler than this Requiem for a Dream filled score, but it definitely does spark interest. This is set to debut at Cannes this year.

[flashvideo filename="https://gordonandthewhale.com/videos/stoneswar-trailer.flv" /]

In the frozen arctic forests, Captain Martin Stone is leading a finely-trained, elite platoon of American and Finnish soldiers as they attack an enemy bunker. Underestimating the enemy’s strength, they are quickly beaten back into the forest. As they try to regroup, they are suddenly attacked by the same soldiers they had just killed a few minutes earlier. Forced to flee deeper into Russian territory, they discover one of the most terrifying secrets of World War II and realize they have woken a far more deadly enemy. Death is no longer the final frontier.

What do Vinnie Jones, Michael Madsen, DMX, Kat Von D, and Armand Assante have in common? They have all just signed on to start in Charles Picerni’s The Bleeding, which centers on an ex-Army Ranger looking for his parents killers only to find a family of vampires hiding in a former chemical weapons factory-turned-nightclub. Sounds strait-to-DVD if you ask me. Shooting begins next month.

PS Before he got the acting bug, Vinnie Jones used to be a professional soccer player for Wimbledon. He Holds the record for being the quickest player ever to be yellow-carded in a game of professional soccer, being booked 3 seconds into a game.

There is nothing we can do to stop Hollywood from putting good films under the knife. Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (which wasn’t bad since Tim Burton took a different approach to it), The Poseidon Adventure, and almost every Japanese horror film are just a small chunk of good films remade into complete disappointment.

MTV sat down with The One and spoke about his upcoming films Street Kings and The Day the Earth Stood Still and the possibility of a Bill & Ted remake. Hollywood take note. Don’t.

MTV: Is part of the appeal of “Street Kings” the opportunity to tap into the darker parts of your nature?

Keanu Reeves: Yes. It was a really interesting role and obviously a great stretch. The director called me a hippie and said, “We have to get rid of that guy.” I really appreciated that opportunity.

MTV: It’s an extremely violent movie. What’s your own threshold for violence in film?

Reeves: I’m not really into the horror porn. I don’t find that entertaining personally. But on some levels, when violence is done to my liking, there’s a part of it that I like. I want it to have a reason. Violence for violence’s sake, I’m not really into it. I’m not on the Internet trying to find the next beheading. I have friends who do, and I’m not one of those people.

MTV: There are some great mano-a-mano scenes between you and Forest Whitaker and you and Hugh Laurie in this one.

Reeves: They’re thrilling. You’re working with a fellow artist and you’re pushing each other creatively and challenging and reaching for something. If it goes well, it’s really a good day, because it’s play. When my character and Forest’s face-off at the end of the movie, we’re both in each other’s faces talking about the truth and “Why did you do what you did?” Those are good scenes.

If you haven’t had enough of Juno then you’re in luck. To hype up the DVD release, Fox Searchlight has given us an early look at one of the (eleven) deleted scenes. It’s called “Cafe Triste,” and shows Juno (Ellen Page) performing an acoustic show at a little cafe with honest-to-blogger Leah (Olivia Thirlby) and George Michael, err, Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera) in the audience. After, they go up to tell her job whale done and that witty humor of Diablo kicks in. Watch below!

A couple of weeks ago I posted the TRAILER for Fat Jared Leto’s new film, Chapter 27. In the movie, he plays Mark David Chapman, the guy responsible for killing John Lennon. I will say this, I have seen this film and it sucks, but Jared Leto’s performance is nothing short of amazing. I mean, he gained almost 70 pounds for this role. That’s dedication my friends.

I will save the rest of my rant for the review that will be posted the day the film opens (March 28), but for now, you get to look at the Fat Jared Leto in the new official poster MTV has posted.

Jamie Bell is Hallam Foe, a troubled young man whose knack for voyeurism paradoxically reveals his darkest fears, and his most peculiar desires. Driven to expose the true cause of his mother’s death, he instead finds himself searching the rooftops of the city of Edinburgh for love.

Oooh. Delusions. Sex. Lies. This looks good. And that fact that Four Tet, Franz Ferdinand, and Sons & Daughters did the soundtrack makes it so much sweet. Mister Foe has been out overseas for a long time now, and is just now hitting the states sometime this month (limited).

There have been a few photos floating around involving the new G.I. Joe movie and Paramount Pictures has finallllly released first look pics of Ray Park as Snake Eyes. Many of you will remember Ray as Darth Maul from Episode 1 or Toad from X-Men. If not, just know this guy is no joke when it comes to martial arts training. G.I. If it was the goal of teen actors Troy Gentile and Nate Hartley to forever be known as the pocket-sized versions of Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, then congratulations. The new comedy Drillbit Taylor is Superbad-lite with fewer laughs and a lot more Owen Wilson that we actually needed to see.

At its core, Drillbit is a story about nerds, a comedy goldmine if done correctly (TV’s short-lived Freaks and Geeks, another produced work by Judd Apatow, is an example). But when forced into flat scenes and relying on unmemorable characters, someone’s bound to wish Arnold Poindexter or Paul Pfeiffer would make a quick cameo.

drillbit_taylor_1.jpg

Alas, they do not and we are left with a trio of lame ducks in Wade (Hartley), Ryan (Gentile), and Emmitt (David Dorfman, the little kid from The Ring, who seems to have fallen victim to the Haley Joel Osment-hit-puberty-and-get-butt-ugly-syndrome). Emmitt is a sort-of third-wheel character like McLovin if McLovin was a spaz who liked showtunes.

The film opens as BFFs Wade and Ryan are getting ready to start their freshman year of high school. Believing that this is their time to shine, the boys make a promise to themselves that they will no longer be viewed as dorks or feel inapt when talking to the opposite sex. Ryan even gives himself a new nickname, T-Dog, to start the year off a new man.

Not even within five minutes of stepping inside the school, however, Wade and Ryan are singled out by Filkins (Alex Frost), a psychotic bully, and his henchman Ronnie (Josh Peck of Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh”…shiver). After a few weeks of being humiliated by the goons, who are written way too exaggeratedly by Kristofor Brown and Seth Rogan, the boys decide to hire a bodyguard to protect them from any more torture.

In steps Drillbit Taylor (Owen Wilson), a self-proclaimed military hero and bodyguard to the stars. Actually, Drillbit is really a compulsive liar and homeless man living in the woods and hustling for change with his bum friends. When he sees an opportunity to make some extra cash by swindling some desperate kids, he doesn’t hesitate. Since he seems legit (but mostly because he is the only bodyguard the kids can afford), Drillbit gets the job and assures the boys they are now under his wing. Pretending to be a teacher at their school, Drillbit has no real intention of living up to his job description. He’s too busy flirting in the teacher’s lounge with a cute English teacher (played by Apatow’s real leading lady Leslie Mann, who is sadly underused).

Although the first half hour or so brings some steady laughs, when the boys match wits with Drillbit is where the picture suffers. This is the type of character where Wilson should flourish, but when heaved into a clutter of implausible personas and loopy writing Drillbit Taylor isn’t this year’s comedy gem we all know Apatow has delivered before.

Yessss. Neil Marshall knows blood and gore. His recent film Doomsday had plenty of both, and 2/3 of GATW loved it (read Rusty’s review HERE).
tn_writer-and-director-neil-marshall-on-the-set-of-doomsday-a-rogue-pictures-release.jpg

Looks like he’s now turning into some new territory. Neil Just signed with Universal Studios to direct Drive, an adaptation of the James Sallis novel of the same name.

Hugh Jackman is attached to play a Hollywood stunt driver who’s night life consist of being the getaway driver in heists. With this already adrenaline pumped existence, according to the book, things change when he discovers a hit has been put out on his life. Whether or not Jackman will star in this is up to scheduling and much praying.

Hossein Amini wrote the script (the guy that wrote much anticipated but nobody seems to know when the hell it will be released Killshot), and Marshall told Variety

“This is something I haven’t done before, and I’ve wanted to bring a British sensibility to an L.A. shoot and a scorched classic film noir concept. Hoss is a fantastic writer, and he’s written three amazing car chases in the film. He’s turned them into dramatic scenes as opposed to the usual crash, bang, wallop. I would like to be shooting it this summer.”

Marshall has also signed with Universal to write and direct an old western horror film titled Sacrilege. Again, the staff at GATW loves Marshall and his gore.
