Paramount developing remake of THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
Please say it isn't so, one of my favorite films and Alfred Hitchcock classic THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH is headed for a remake!
BadAssDigest is reporting that Paramount Pictures is working on a remake of the classic. Hitchcock is my favorite director hands down and a genius. It's a shame that Hollywood is not being more creative and is forced to do remakes. I should have seen this coming after DISTURBIA was such a huge hit. That film was basically a REAR WINDOW (my favorite film) ripoff.
If you haven't seen the original film, it follows a couple who investigate a conspiracy and their son gets kidnapped as a result. The remake will switch things around with the kid’s parents disappearing.
The script is being written by John and Jez Butterworth. Jez Butterworth had previously been on the remake of THE BIRDS. The film is being produced by Parkes/MacDonald Productions.
Hitchcock remaking his own film is one thing, but someone else remaking Hitchcock will never sit well with me. The director remade THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH himself, which is fine with me. He first made the film in 1934 and then again in 1956, which he preferred over the original.
There are so many talented screenwriters working today that there have got to be some original ideas. What are your thoughts on this news?
