Paramount picks up new thriller pitch from TAKEN scribe Robert Mark Kamen

While I may not be the world’s biggest fan of the Pierre Morel film, TAKEN, I do have a soft spot in my heart for the film’s producer, Luc Besson, and its screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen.

Not the world’s strongest scribe, Kamen is a rather gifted action writer, so the idea of a new thriller from the writer is exciting.

Well, according to THR, that’s apparently what Paramount just nabbed from him.

The outlet is reporting that the writer has sold a yet-to-be-titled pitch to the studio, and while details are scarce, it does apparently “involve two twentysomethings, a man and a woman, caught up in a character-based, intimate thriller.” Count me in.

Personally, while I find the upcoming film COLOMBIANA a bit more interesting, this one does sound hopeful. I’ve really dig much of Kamen’s work, particularly THE FIFTH ELEMENT, and while his work on THE TRANSPORTER and its subsequent sequels were the manifestation of what I feel is wrong with his writing, I still have rather high hopes for this project.
