Paramount vying to distribute BOND 23
With the latest Bond movie finally making some headway towards production (with a release date set), now comes the question of who will distribute MGM's greatest property. Paramount is showing strong interest in distributing the film, and with the professional relationship between MGM's co-CEOs Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and Paramount's executives, they'll have the first opportunity to negotiate.

The last two Bond flicks have been released by Sony Pictures. With such success from those releases, it's doubtful they'll want to give up the franchise. They're also on good terms still with the Broccoli family, legal owners of the Bond rights. While they've had a disappointing holiday run, releasing the big budget comedy flop, HOW DO YOU KNOW, they are in need of a big tent pole success like BOND 23. Given the situation, Sony may be more willing to cough up the dough to land this deal, should Paramount hesitate.
