Paul Greengrass looking to helm FANTASTIC VOYAGE
One of my personal favorite filmmakers is looking to line up his next project, and with quite the interesting choice.
Heat Vision is reporting that Paul Greengrass (GREEN ZONE) is looking to helm the upcoming 3D remake of the Richard Fleischer sci-fi film, FANTASTIC VOYAGE, which currently has James Cameron on as a producer.
The film is set during the Cold War, and follows a professor who discovers a way to shrink matter, but falls victim to an assassination attempt that instead of killing him sends him into a coma. A team of medical staffers then shrink themselves, go into his body, and try to bring him back to life.
Cameron was originally attached as director of the project but has since been relegated to producer, leaving this open for Greengrass, a rather interesting choice for the project. It’s definitely going to be a new turn for the filmmaker who isn’t really versed in the world of sci-fi. However, it fits his shaky cam style of direction, and in 3D, it would be one hell of an intriguing project.
He’s not the first name I would have thought of but it’s definitely out of the box, and for a project that I wasn’t too stoked to see. This definitely makes this a project I’m keeping my eyes on.
