Paul Verhoeven jumping aboard new film, THE STUDENT, with Halle Berry
It’s been a while since we’ve heard much about Paul Verhoeven, or the film which he began discussing last year, THE SURROGATE. Well, that may be for a reason, as the director has seemed to not only find a new project, but has gotten one hell of an A-lister to star in it.
Badass Digest is reporting that the director has tapped Halle Berry to star in his new project, THE STUDENT.
Berry was attached to SURROGATE when it was announced, and while that film appears to be DOA, this one sounds like an interesting film to replace it. The film follows “a 19 year old kid who takes up a summer internship…and then takes up with his boss’ wife. Things start to get dangerous from there. Halle Berry has been offered the role of the wife, a character named Miranda.”
Personally, the idea of Verhoeven helming a sexual thriller is about as typically Verhoeven as a project can get. I’m a huge fan of the filmmaker, and this will definitely be an interesting project for Berry to jump aboard. Hopefully this can find its footing. It’s being backed by Relativity.
