Paul Walker and Fred Durst

Paul Walker has been cast in a new thriller called PAWN SHOP CHRONICLES that will be directed by Fred Durst according to THR. The film is based on a story written by Adam Minarovich, an actor who at one point worked in a pawn shop in North Carolina.

The story has several interconnecting stories and focuses on” a missing wedding ring which leads to a wild-goose chase involving meth addicts, skinheads and an Elvis impersonator.”

One of the films producers, Jordan Schur describes the film:

This is a hillbilly Pulp Fiction, fast-moving and action-packed. It’s also very funny. It’s got all these elements to really pack a punch.

I have heard a number of people commenting on the fact that Durst is directing. My response to anyone who doubts his ability is to check out THE EDUCATION OF CHARLIE BANKS. That is a great film with great performances by both Jesse Eisenberg and  Jason Ritter. I like Walker, but most of his films have been mediocre aside from the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise. I am interested to see him outside of that role.
