Penelope Cruz in full pirate garb on the set of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES
For some reason these new pictures of Penelope Cruz on the set of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES are reminding me of the one episode of Seinfeld with the "pirate shirt." We have for you a first look at production on the film, and honestly it's not too terribly mind-blowing. Penelope Cruz looks absolutely gorgeous and perhaps a little too clean to be a convincing pirate, but that is just one woman's opinion.
Check out our first peek after the break.
I will say that her costume is a much better version of any female pirate costume I've ever seen. Halloween has forever sullied the female pirate in my mind, but this may be the film that sets this right for me. One thing that does bother me with these pictures is that it seems like Cruz has a difficult time walking around onset, as she is often shown holding onto someone else as she moves. Makes me wonder how she will handle the action elements of the filming process. I'm sure the Hawaiian beach's uneven surface can be difficult to navigate though, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
In the film, Cruz will play Blackbeard's daughter, who is a sort of female version of Jack Sparrow in some ways. She is mysteriously connected to Jack's past and tags along with him in search of the Fountain of Youth. You can see more pictures at Radar Online.
