Pete Doherty joining Charlotte Gainsbourg in THE CONFESSION OF A CHILD OF THE CENTURY
Hipsters, prepare to freak out.
According to AlloCine (via The Playlist), Charlotte Gainsbourg is set to team up with Libertines leader and drug addled rock star Pete Doherty, in a new take on the 1836 Alfred de Musset piece, The Confession Of A Child Of The Century.
Best known for being a confrontational ex-love interest for equally controversial fashion icon Kate Moss, the rocker will take the lead role of Octavian, the story’s narrator. The story was an autobiographical look at Musset’s relationship with Baroness Amandie Aurore Lucile Dupin. Gainsbourg will play another woman with whom he has a fling.
Set to be directed by Sylvie Verheyde, the film is set to shoot on December 27 in Paris, Rhone-Alps and Germany.
Personally, while I may not be the biggest fan of the man, or his music, I do have to say, this is an absolutely compelling little project. Gainsbourg is a fantastic actress, who has time and time again proven that she is among the most intriguing actresses working. Also, it’s kind of intriguing in that this may ultimately become an absolute sideshow. Doherty is notorious for his antagonistic ways, so this should be a project to keep a huge eye on.
