Peter Facinelli will produce a film about Whitey Bulger

Well, I definitely didn’t see this one coming. Deadline Hollywood reports that Peter Facinelli will produce a film adaptation of the Edward MacKenzie- and Phyllis Karas-penned book Street Soldier: My Life as an Enforcer For Whitey Bulger and the Boston Irish Mob, which discusses the infamous mobster Whitey Bulger.

The film will account for Bulger’s rise in the Boston Irish Mob, as well as his famous disappearance, and will be told from the perspective of the aforementioned MacKenzie; MacKenzie was the enforcer mentioned in the book’s title, as well as being a drug dealer and boxer.

Facinelli, perhaps best known as THE TWILIGHT SAGA’s Dr. Carlisle Cullen, is relatively new to the producing scene: he has just two screen projects – both of which were officially released this year – listed as production credits, and only one of those is a motion picture. However, he and his production company, Facinelli Films, already have financial backing from Brookstreet Pictures.
