Recovering from his recent surgery, Peter Jackson has confirmed that he, and the rest of the cast and crew, will be ready to commence production on the two-part prequel to his LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. This comes after delays aplenty, caused by everything from MGM's financial woes to threat of union boycott to the loss of its original director in Guillermo del Toro.

March 21st is the start date for the 500-million-dollar movie, considering that everything goes as it should and New Zealand doesn't mysteriously and suddenly sink into the ocean. Hey, considering all the bad luck this film has had thus far, it could happen!

Jackson told AFP via Yahoo! News, "Despite some delays we are fully back on track and very excited to get started."
