Photos of Captain America with costume, sans Chris Evans, hit the web

With early CAPTAIN AMERICA costume concept art hitting the web and then tossing it into a flurry of disapproval, we have our first look at the costume, or at least an early iteration of it (it’s allegedly going to change throughout the film), and I do have to say, I don’t know if it’s all that better.

Thanks to Superhero Hype, we have our first look at a version of the costume, albeit not on the film’s star, Chris Evans, as well as a few H.Y.D.R.A. agents, all in what seem to be the midst of a motorcycle chase.

Check out the photos, after the jump!

Personally, while the Captain America costume looks just like that, a costume, I do have to say, those H.Y.D.R.A. agents look kind of badass, with the bikes looking even better. I genuinely dig the Captain America bike, but at this point, the film stills seems to scream “comic book” movie, something that a lot of films within the genre have kind of been able to steer clear of. However, I’m still holding out a ton of hope, but at this point, it’s the epitome of cautious optimism.

What do you think?

I like the idea of the futuristic nostalgia, but the CA costume feels like it hasn’t struck the right balance yet. Maybe it’s the goggles, or the mix between what looks like modern riot gear and WWII era fatigues, but it looks like the actor got lost in a prop closet and threw on whatever he could find.

I feel like they should steer in more of a Rocketeer direction than what it is currently.
