PIRANHA 3D didn't destroy the weekend box office quite as much as the unsuspecting victims in the film, but that doesn't mean PIRANHA 3D is a "flop." See what I did there? It's a pun...because of the fish and the flopping they make when...never mind.

Considering the film is estimated to make around $30 million during its entire theatrical run, the idea of a sequel doesn't seem too far-fetched. In fact, PIRANHA 3D 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO (working title only) is already being talked about by director Alexandre Aja and producer Mark Canton.Dimension Films announced plans for a sequel in a press release today. Producer Mark Canton had this to say about the sequel:

“We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving PIRANHA 3D, but cheering for it. And it’s fantastic that so many critics are really getting the movie and recommending it. We can’t wait to get to work on the sequel.”

Alexandre Aja added this bit of information about the proposed sequel:

“We had many ideas. There is the Full Moon Party in Thailand, a huge event with like 200,000 young people from all around the world taking mushrooms and partying on the beach.”

Sounds like someone is aiming to include the word "bro" a lot more in future PIRANHA installments. Nothing spells out horror better than thousands of sweaty, mushroom-eating, 20 year old kids getting their privates chomped on my sharp-toothed fish. Consider this my official "high five brah" endorsement!
