And the dream battles keep on rolling in.

Following films that will see such things as aliens battling cowboys and even presidents battling blood sucking vampires, it’s time for two random beings to duke it out in what should be one hell of a fight.

Deadline has revealed that Sony has picked up the rights to the spec script, INHERIT THE EARTH, penned by video game writer and filmmaker J.T. Petty. The film is based on the comic series Zombies vs. Robots, and follows “a young girl who is the last survivor on earth. She is protected by a group of robots from a pack of zombies that are intelligent and evolved.”

The film will be produced by Michael Bay and his shingle Platinum Dunes, who are best known for their various horror remakes, most of which have been shockingly above average (I’m thinking THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and FRIDAY THE 13th).

Personally, while I’m not too keen on Platinum Dunes being the ones to back this project, I have to say, I do have a bit of interest in this project. The premise itself is somehow inherently intriguing, and sure, the creative team here may not be the greatest, but if we get one or two good fights between robots and zombies, it all may be worth it.
