Plot of Christopher Guest’s next film leaked; will follow collectors of retro memorabilia
Christopher Guest is one of the great names in comedy. His movies, most notably WAITING FOR GUFFMAN and BEST IN SHOW, are some of the funniest films in recent years. He has a penchant for the mockumentary, a style of filmmaking that involves on screen interviews with the characters and a comedic approach to cinema-verite.
We're not entirely sure if Guest's next film will follow in this vein, though we do know what he's turned his sights on. Hit the jump for the full story.
While BEST IN SHOW took aim at obsessive dog owners and WAITING FOR GUFFMAN critiqued over-serious community theater actors, Guest's next film will apparently explore the depths of people who collect retro memorabilia. Odds are, this film will be a more comedic take on the show HOARDERS, which follows people who have a compulsive desire to keep everything rather than throwing things away.
I can't wait to see Guest's hilarious take on people who obsess over Beatles action figures, Elvis wigs, Harrison Ford posters, and other things. No word on a cast or release date yet, but we'll keep you posted.
