POLITICS OF LOVE picks up a player
According to THR, Brian White has joined up with the romantic comedy POLITICS OF LOVE. If you haven't heard of him, Brian White is quite famous for his exploits in football and his slowly burgeoning film career. White has been seen in FIGHTING, 12 ROUNDS, and I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF. More information on the project after the jump.
POLITICS OF LOVE is a film whose narrative surrounds the various stories of love which blossomed out of the 2008 election of Barrack Obama. Apparently, there were enough to inspire a film completely based on them. The cast already has Mallika Sherawat signed on to star as an Obama campaign worker who falls for her counterpart on the McCain campaign, portrayed by White.
Insert facepalm here.
Last I checked, the story of the 2008 election was reserved for Oliver Stone or Aaron Sorkin. Anyone else will make a fool of themselves. This idea seems like a silly attempt to make a few million dollars out of a genuinely interesting concept. The names of actual candidates being attached to the film seem to only serve as an artificial draw for audiences. Anyone actually excited for this?
Regardless, William Dear is directing the screenplay written by Gary Goldstein. Expect to this one to hit theaters sometime next year.
