Poster for 50/50 debuts
Comedy is tricky genre, but every year there seem to be a few films in the genre that stand out among the rest as they genuinely entertain and speak to the human condition. We’ve already had the hilarious sleeper hit BRIDESMAIDS this year, but a little indie called 50/50 looks to join the crowd of admired comedies from 2011.
Based on real-life situations, 50/50 stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a man battling cancer; Will Reiser, whose circumstances inspired the film, also penned the script. A trailer hit some time ago, and now we have a poster, courtesy of /Film, that you can check out after the break.

It’s self-aware, hysterical, and heartbreaking all at once, notes that the film itself aims to hit. GATW’s own Kate Erbland really enjoyed 50/50, and buzz for the film so far is positive. In addition to Gordon-Levitt, the film also stars Anna Kendrick, Anjelica Huston, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Seth Rogen. It arrives in theaters on September 30.
