With 2011 appearing to be a relatively weak year for big studio fair (outside films like Thor, Transformers, Captain America and the final Harry Potter chapter, with the latter two likely the only ones worth any time), one of the more interesting studio films is the Judd Apatow-produced BRIDESMAIDS.

Starring a huge cast, including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Jon Hamm, Jill Clayburgh, Matthew Lucas, Chris O’Dowd, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy and Wendy McLendon-Covey, BRIDESMAIDS follows a maid of honor, who struggles to not only please her bride, but the pretentious and snobby bridesmaids.

We have a new poster for the film, and while it’s a really fantastic one sheet,  it is the film’s cast that has me interested.  I’m a huge fan of the cast, particularly Wiig, Hamm and Byrne, who could prove to be one hell of a comedic team.  Hamm is a shockingly funny actor, so hopefully he’ll get a few good lines in there.  Simply put, for a writer who really isn’t the biggest fan of comedies, this is one I can’t wait to check out.
