Gosling appears on the poster for THE IDES OF MARCH

Thanks to its selection as the opening film of the Venice Film Festival, later showing at the Toronto International Film Festival, and impressive lineup of actors, George Clooney’s political thriller THE IDES OF MARCH might just be one of the year’s most acclaimed features.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been introduced to official stills from the film, and now we have a poster for the film thanks to RopeofSilicon that you can check out after the break.

The official poster for THE IDES OF MARCH

It’s a fairly simple poster that actually looks more like a banner than your typical one-sheet. On it we see Ryan Gosling holding a folded issue of Time to his face; Clooney’s face appears on the cover, so the illusion created is that Gosling and Clooney are matched in some way.

THE IDES OF MARCH is about a political scandal involving Gosling’s character – a rising campaign secretary – and Clooney’s character – a presidential candidate – so this choice for a poster makes perfect sense. Hopefully the movie will live up to its promise, and with such a great pedigree behind it, why shouldn’t it?
