PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES getting a rewrite by Marti Noxon

Seth Grahame-Smith is really booming in the movie industry right now with two of his novels currently being adapted to film. The first is ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, for which he also wrote the screenplay, followed by PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, which is set to be directed by Craig Gillespie. Needless to say, big things might be in store for Grahame-Smith in the future.

With the addition of Gillespie to PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES (after a number of directorial changes and rumors), a new writer has also come aboard to rewrite the script that David O. Russell first penned.

The new writer for the film will be Marti Noxon, who most recently wrote Gillespie's last film, the FRIGHT NIGHT remake that is set to be released on August 19. The trailer for FRIGHT NIGHT looks really great, so it makes sense that Gillespie would want to bring on a writer that could more aptly make the script fit his vision and style a little more.

I adore that these Grahame-Smith films are being adapted, because they easily could have been smaller B-grade films instead of these big theatrical productions that they are becoming.

The Gillespie/Noxon team seems like a pretty good one, but we'll find out for sure how great their team is after FRIGHT NIGHT is released in August. Until then, we just need to sit tight until we start getting casting announcements for ZOMBIES, that's when things will really get interesting.

I’m still left with a bad taste in my mouth from her episodes of Buffy, so I’m a little worried. I guess we’ll see how her big screen work on Fright Night pans out.

I hear you, but this should give her a big more leeway than a TV series does. I really like the FRIGHT NIGHT trailer though, so we’ll see.

I wish I could speak on this, but I never really watched Buffy… I do like Joss’s other stuff though!
