Promo poster for Nicolas Winding Refn’s DRIVE released

With this year’s Cannes Film Festival, it looks as though the news is focused more on those that are trying to be financed at the festival, rather than the ones that are actually showing there.

The festival has seen very few movies that have come to a critical consensus, with the winner so far being Mike Leigh’s ANOTHER YEAR, however, that hasn’t stopped the news from rolling in.  Along with promo posters for films like GULLIVERS TRAVELS and COSMOPOLIS, /Film is back with yet another poster that is on display at the festival.

The poster is a promotional piece for the upcoming Nicolas Winding Refn film, DRIVE, set to star Ryan Gosling.  With the news that Refn was ready for neo-Western ONLY GOD FORGIVES as his next film, many a person thought that this meant the postponement or death of DRIVE, but with recent reports that the director still very much wants to make the film, it looks like it may indeed be coming down the line.  It’s just a promo poster, and it shows little to nothing outside of the title, but anytime I get to talk about Nicolas Winding Refn, who I think may be today’s most gifted filmmaker, I will take it.
