When this year’s Toronto International Film Festival came to a close, no film came out quite as big of a winner as the festival’s true hit, John Cameron Mitchell’s RABBIT HOLE.

After being picked up by Lionsgate a week ago, the film has been on the tip of everyone’s collective tongue, and according to Variety, we now know when the hell we’ll actually be able to see the film.

The outlet is reporting that Lionsgate will be releasing the film (in limited release) on December 17, with the film hitting wide on January 14, 2011. I know, bummer for those of us who don’t live in one of the 10 or 15 biggest markets that will be getting the film the weeks prior to its January release, but with Lionsgate behind it, we will only have to wait a bit to see it, which is great to know.

RABBIT HOLE stars Aaron Eckhart and Nicole Kidman as a couple who must try to deal with life after the death of their child. It’s garnered a boat load of buzz coming out of TIFF, with the word "Oscar" coming into the conversation more times than not. Toss in the fact that the film is directed by SHORTBUS director John Cameron Mitchell, and this is a film I’m absolutely dying to see. It’s far and away my most anticipated film of the rest of the year, so I can’t wait for January 14.
