Rachel Weisz in “deep talks” for BOURNE LEGACY role
Apparently Universal has found a way to toss a cog into the wheels of Disney’s upcoming OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
Deadline is reporting that Universal is currently in talks with actress Rachel Weisz, already tapped to play the role of Evanora in the Disney prequel, to bring her on board opposite Jeremy Renner in the upcoming BOURNE LEGACY.
The actress is in “deep talks” with the studio that would bring her on to the film as the female lead of the Tony Gilroy-directed film, which is in turn set to shoot this September.
OZ was set to shoot this summer, so it remains to be seen whether or not Weisz is able to take on both roles, but it would be one hell of a turn of events for Weisz to jump ship over at Disney to start work on this Universal project.
I think both films sound intensely interesting, particularly OZ, which may be a more interesting fit for the actress, whereas BOURNE may be a better fit. Personally, I hope both happen, but this could be quite an interesting turn of events for both films involved. More to come.
