Rachel Weisz

The upcoming prequel to the iconic THE WIZARD OF OZ just got a bit more evil.

THR is reporting that Rachel Weisz is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming film, OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.  The actress will take on the role of Evanora, “a powerful, evil witch who intends to rule the land.  She is the sister of Theadora (Mila Kunis) and tries to seduce her to the dark side.”

Weisz joins Kunis and James Franco in the cast for the film, which is set to be helmed by Sam Raimi, for Disney. OZ will follow the titular character, who is a snake oil salesman, who is ultimately brought to a magic world run by real witches.

What is slowly becoming a really interesting prequel, OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL is a film that may not be a project that the general public is really calling for, but it is one that couldn’t have a more intriguing cast.  The addition of Weisz is one that makes this film even more eye catching, and it will be quite interesting to see what she can exactly do with a  role unlike many she’s had in the past.
