Red Carpet Interview: Harrison Ford
It's not often that you get to meet a personal hero. To have the opportunity to stand face to face with a legend - in this case, an actor - that has so much to do with so much of what you love to do - in this case, film. Well, I was given just the chance this week, as I stood face to face with an idol. An idol that I would most definitely not throw for a whip.
Mr. Harrison Ford...Han Solo. Rick Deckard. Bob Falfa. Jack Ryan. Dr. Richard Kimble. President James Marshall. And of course, Henry "Indiana" Jones "Junior" Jr.
As you well know, the man has played iconic role after iconic role in his vast career, when most actors merely hope to play one of near significance. So, with a filmography that regarded, what does one ask when they are told they only have time for one question? Like the Grail Knight said, "choose wisely" because Dr. Jones had no time for love.
As many as I had prepared (five pages worth to be exact)...as many as I would love to ask...I could not stand face to face with the man who dons the fedora and pass up the chance to ask him about...well, you know.
After all, RAIDERS is my favorite film of all time. And I did try to name my dog Indiana (He wouldn't answer to it. Lucky you, first born son!) Not to mention the fact that I dressed up as the famed archaeologist underneath my gown when I graduated from college. If we were playing "Two Truths & A Lie," then I would have just cheated because all three of those were true.
And so I asked. And thus, he answered. Check out what Mr. Ford had to say about the process of forming the idea for another film with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
JW: Everyone asks you where the fifth film is going to go but what I want to know...you know, you've long said it's your favorite role...you said you would play it until you couldn't anymore...where do you want the fifth film to go? Where would you like to see the character go and the story to go?
HF: Oh, you know...I don't really...it doesn't work that way. George is the fountain head for the stories. Steven and I weigh in on it at a certain point and we shape and work with what George's inspiration is. But we all have to agree on what it's going to be before we have a willingness to do it so...I don't really know where it is going to go.
JW: You'd just be happy to go back to it, huh?
HF: Oh, it'd be fun!

So there it is folks! Short but sweet. Now, let's just rub our lucky lighters for good fortune so INDY 5 can and will in fact happen. And that, this time around, it won't take 19 years to see the next adventure of Indiana Jones.
