RED sequel hires writers
Apparently there is more of a clamoring for geriatric assassins than previously thought.
Collider is reporting that Jon and Erich Hoeber, the men behind the upcoming films BATTLESHIP and MAN ON A LEDGE, will be returning to the world they crafted in the 2010 film, RED, for a new sequel.
RED saw Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and Mary-Louise Parker hamming it up the way only director Robert Schwentke could get them to, and is based off of a hit comic book. No details have been revealed as to what to expect from the film, but honestly, this is the most innocuous bit of sequel news one could come up with.
Personally, while I never saw the original, I love the premise (a group of retired CIA agents must go on the run after hits are taken out on them), and this cast is one that I’ll watch more than willingly, so given the right creative team, you really can’t go wrong here.
Hell, at least it will keep Bruce Willis from doing DIE HARD 5. One can only hope, right?
